Mission Statement

BOE Mission Statement

Goals

The Salmon River Central School District Board of Education has developed goals for the school district to meet community and the New York State Education Department Next Generation Learning Standards.

Student Achievement

To increase our graduation rate over the next five years to meet the New York State target graduation rate. To increase the number of students achieving state-level proficiency for grades 3-8 based upon New York State exams.

To prepare our students to be college and career ready by the time all students graduate. To develop intervention programs/initiatives to assist students considered at-risk in grades Pre K- 12.

Priorities

  • Increase the number of Advance Placement Courses and offer a wide variety of CTE courses/programs.
  • Provide a strong, challenging core curriculum aligned to the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.
  • Enhance our secondary programs to deter student dropouts.
  • Create positive and supportive learning cultures within each school building.
  • Develop and implement programs to support K-12 at-risk students for math, reading and writing.
  • Develop and implement school-wide strategies that improve civility and address bullying as a process to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

Culturally Responsive

Priorities

  • To have cultural diversity integrated into our ELA and Social Studies curriculums.
  • To be a school district that embraces diversity and demonstrates cultural responsiveness for our students, staff and administrators.

Data

To increase student achievement by using student data which will drive improved classroom instruction.

Priorities

  • To use student performance data to make informed decision that align and guide instruction.
  • To properly train administrators and teachers on student performance data and the analysis and interpretation of these data.
  • Develop grade-level data teams using Action Research.
  • Provide administrators and teachers time for data driven instruction planning.

Technology

To increase student achievement through the integration of technology in the classroom that support the 21st Century learning skills for K-12 students.

Priorities

  • To ensure all students and teachers have access to technology for learning and teaching.
  • Provide professional development for all teachers and administrators regarding incorporating technology in the classrooms.
  • Provide enrichment, interdisciplinary learning, STEAM programs and on-line blended learning for students.

Fiscal Responsibility

Salmon River CSD Board of Education will ensure that the school district will have a fiscally sound school budget each year. The Board of Education will responsibly support the goals of the district.

Priorities

  • Develop a 5 year plan for Salmon River CSD
  • Complete planning for a new Capital Project to modernize the High School and Middle School.
  • Continue to explore cost saving measures while maintaining high quality educational programs for our students.
