Our High School Program of Studies outlines three aspects for the success of our high school students’ success. Collaborative work among parents/guardians, students and staff is important when selecting a program of study that will provide for the tools needed to pursue the educational opportunities that are right for the students.

Academic Intervention Services

Students may need Academic Intervention Services (AIS) for a variety of reasons. These services are typically offered to students who are struggling to meet grade-level expectations in core subjects like reading, math, science, and social studies. This can be identified through testing, classroom performance, or a combination of factors. AIS provides additional support to help students catch up with their peers and achieve academic success.

Mohawk Language & Culture Instruction

The Salmon River Central School District provides educational enrichment programming for its Mohawk student population, which comprises 62% of the total school enrollment. Salmon River is one of thirteen districts within New York State to provide an education to its Native American students, with a commitment to preserve the Mohawk tradition, culture and language within the school system.

Next Generation Learning Standards

The New York State Board of Regents adopted the newly revised English Language Arts and Mathematics Learning Standards on September 11, 2017. These new standards have been the result of over two years of collaborative work to ensure New York State has the best learning standards for our students. Over 130 educators and parents worked together to make recommendations and revise the standards, resulting in a new set of revised English Language Arts and Mathematics Learning Standards.

3-8 Assessments

Schools across the state will administer the Grades 3-8 English Language Arts and Mathematics Exams each spring.
